My hamster still does not work in IQSuite

Please keep in mind that we do not know how your machine is set up or what a lot of the environmental variables are. These are merely suggestion to try and help you figure out how to get the hamster working. For more information on how to accomplish some the steps provided below please see the attached guides.

·        Reinstall the hamster drivers without unplugging the hamster. If prompted to overwrite any files please do so.
·        Uninstall your hamster and its drivers, reboot your machine and reinstall.
·        Uninstall your hamster and its drivers, Disable windows Automatic Driver Installation, reboot and reinstall

Deleting your Hamster and its Drivers

Click on the start menu and select Control Panel


Next select Hardware and sound. Note that you need to click on Hardware and Sound and not one of the sub-menus.


Now select Device Manager


After Device Manager has opened up expand the Biometric Devices tab and select Uninstall.


To uninstall your hamster make sure to check the ‘Delete the Driver software for this device’ box as shown below


After clicking ok a progress bar will appear briefly and you might be asked to restart your computer, depending on your setup.

Disabling Windows Automatic Driver Installation

Step 1: Change device installation setting

  1. Click Start, type devices and printers in the search box, and then click Devices and Printers.


  1. All the devices connected to the computer are listed, including monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, and so on.

    Under Devices, right-click the icon for the computer, and then click Device installation settings.


  1. A new window pops up asking you whether you want Windows to download driver software.

    Click to select No, let me choose what to do, select Never install driver software from Windows update, and then click Save Changes.



  1. Click Yes when you are prompted for confirmation.

Step 2: Configure group policy settings

Note This method only applies to Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate, and Windows 7 Enterprise.

  1. Click Start, type gpedit.msc in the search box, and then press ENTER. This step opens the Local Group Policy Editor.


(Click Yes if you are prompted.)



  1. Expand Computer Configuration, expand Administrative Templates, expand System, expand Device Installation, and then click Device Installation Restrictions.

    In the right window, double-click Prevent installation of devices not described by other policy settings.



  1. Click to select Enabled, and then click OK.


  1. Restart the computer.
